“Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council” is a Vocational Education Awarding Body, an approved & recognized by National Council of Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) (National Regulatory for Vocational Education in India), and working under aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) for the Skill development initiatives in Life Sciences Sector. As a Sector Skill Council, set up by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) along with Industry Representatives, LSSSDC is mandated to establish a sustainable vocational education ecosystem for Life Sciences Sector, which includes Pharmaceutical (including AYUSH, Cosmetics, Vet-Drugs, Nutraceutical and CRAMS), Biotechnology (including Biologics, Agri Biotech and Allied Biotech), Medical Device (inclusive of Implants, Diagnostic Imaging & In-Vitro Diagnostics) and Research & Development Services (inclusive of CRO, CRAM, SMOs) Industry across the country.”
It is also an Authorized Advisory and Monitoring Body under MSDE, for engaging Industry for Apprenticeship through Optional Trades under Apprenticeship Act. Established in 2014, as per the mandate assigned to LSSSDC by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under MSDE.
LSSSDC is ONLY sector skill council working in Life Sciences domain from ‘Bench to Clinic’ Stage. The said mandate, entrusts us with the comprehensive responsibility of nurturing a skilled workforce development through a robust and sustainable skilling ecosystem for employment in Industry from Research & Development Stage to Manufacturing and Supply of the products (Drugs and Medical Devices) to customers (i.e. Hospitals and Clinic).
Its aim for next 10 years, is to identify all employable and futuristic job roles, map the required respective competencies and skills, curate the vocational programs under approval of NCVET and deliver through affiliated vocational training organizations and educational institutions. We're committed to training and certifying proficient educators and trainers and envision empowering approximately 6.15 million skilled professionals in this sector.
To create a robust & vibrant Eco-system for development of a Skilled workforce matching globally recognized standards for Life Sciences Sector in India, benefiting all stakeholder. This, whilst ensuring a sustained supply of Skilled workforce, across functional areas and levels, will provide meaningful livelihood opportunities to a multitude of people in Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Medical Devices & Research and Development space in India.
